Do I still need to wear sunscreen?

Yes. Choosing sun protective clothing allows us to further protect our skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet light.  However, any exposed areas are still at risk for the effects of the sun.

Why can't I find swimsuits here?

Great question! At AmberNoon we recognize that most people are sun aware when they go to the beach or to the pool. Sunscreen, hats, and umbrellas are commonly used.  We want our customers to recognize that being smart about sun protection should be an every day mission!  Many people find that its the time spent in the sun driving a car, walking the dog, at a baseball game,  and every day errands that we forget about sun protection! That being said, swimsuits will become available next spring!

Is this just another sun protective line of clothing for the beach?

No!  After years of performing skin cancer screenings on thousands of patients Dr. Ilyas recognizes that most people understand to wear sunscreen when they are at the beach or the pool.  Can you relate to the most common comments she hears?

“I try to be careful when I’m at the beach or the pool, it’s the everyday sunscreen that I always forget to wear!”

“I thought I wasn’t going to be out for long so I didn’t wear sunscreen.”

“With work I’m always in the car or outside. I don’t always remember to wear sunscreen when I’m just going to work.”

“I always wear sunscreen on my face, but only occasionally on my body…”

The concept behind the design at AmberNoon is to get more out of your clothing.  The best protection from the sun is simply covering up when you need to.  Sunscreen is still important but we understand that we just do not always remember to wear it!
